Manchester United drew against Brentford on Saturday, with the display being among the worst we’ve seen this season.
Andre Onana was arguably the best Manchester United player on Saturday night during the 1-1 draw against Brentford.
The Cameroonian may have even been the sole standout performer, with four saves keeping the scoreline respectable.
He also dominated aerially from set pieces and will be livid that he lost his clean sheet late on in added time.
But despite having a good individual outing, United as a team were awful, and this made Onana’s pre-game confidence look silly.

Andre Onana’s comments seem ridiculous after Brentford battered Manchester United
Before kick-off against Brentford, Onana took on the media duties with Sky Sports and he made a vague comment which now looks silly.
“We’ve got something for them,” Onana boldly declared pre-game. But we are still waiting eagerly to see what United had for Brentford.
This prediction however didn’t pan out as United were utterly outclassed across the entire pitch, here’s how dominant Brentford were, as per FotMob.
- Possession: Brentford 47% – 53% United
- Expected goals: 2.60 – 0.50
- Shots: 31 – 11
- Big chances missed: 3 – 1
- Corners: 14 – 4
The performance showed that United actually didn’t have ‘something’ for Brentford and a more accurate description would be that we had nothing for Brentford.
As United were brought back to reality, so have the feelings over Erik ten Hag‘s future, now he could be under serious threat.
Erik ten Hag is running out of time
Despite only losing two games this calendar year so far, Ten Hag hasn’t exactly managed to get his United side firing at any point.
Performances have remained poor with results pretty much just papering over the cracks at United right now.
Poor defensive work has been let off the hook repeatedly by Onana and covered up by the attack providing moments of individual brilliance.
With eight weeks left this season, Ten Hag hasn’t got long to show Ineos a reason as to why he should be kept as manager next season.
