Manchester United’s failings in the transfer market are not just on the incoming side.
United’s inability to sell the deadwood from the squad is almost as frustrating.
One such player is Phil Jones, who has been a liability when he has played for United this year.
The fact he was selected as a starter in the FA Cup final was ludicrous in itself, and Jose Mourinho’s decision backfired predictably.

This season Jones has often found himself failing to even make the squad some weeks. He has played just 58 minutes of Premier League football all season.
Jones is out of contract at the end of the season. He could yet ‘earn’ an extension.
The Sun report United are keen to activate a clause to extend his deal by 12 months so he does not leave on a free.
More surprisingly, the report claims Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both ‘keeping tabs’ on Jones’ situation.

At this point United fans are ready to give up on the 26-year-old.
He appears on the verge of a mistake every time he is on the pitch, he is injury prone, and low on confidence.
It’s time to ship him out. If a top four rival wants to move for him, more fool on them. It is only likely to work to United’s advantage.
Fans have given a resounding thumbs up to the reports, and are hoping Jones is sold as quickly as possible…
