Manchester United fans have their say on Giuseppe Rossi

Giuseppe Rossi is back at Manchester United. It’s like it’s 2005 all over again.
Rossi is just training with the first team as a free agent, after being invited by former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Italian was tipped to become a megastar at United. Sadly he let in 2005 after just playing five games.
His career has been blighted by injury, with multiple serious knee setbacks leaving him as a free agent at 31.
Rossi has enjoyed some good moments too. His best seasons saw him score 32 goals for Villarreal in 2010/11 and 17  for Fiorentina in 2013/14. Rossi has 30 international caps for Italy.

At 31 he is hoping to kickstart his career and get back to fitness.
He has reportedly been doing well too. SkySports reported that a watching Sir Alex Ferguson remarked ‘What about that son’, after seeing his finishing in training last week.
It got us thinking. United don’t need Rossi. Far from it. We are overloaded with strikers and have Mason Greenwood in the background too.

But what if the club took a plunge on a short-term deal. Could a win-win move help United qualify for the Champions League and even help in this year’s competition?

United are not believed to be planning any incoming transfers this month. Adding Rossi on a free would be low risk, especially on a pay as you play deal.

The suggestion received a mixed response on Twitter. Is it a ‘no brainer’, or is it time to get real?

In favour
