Ferguson’s involvement is a sign of United ‘wheeling out the big guns’ for a matter of top urgency.
Ronaldo is present at Carrington today along with agent Jorge Mendes, The Athletic report.
Last year Ronaldo explained how Ferguson had a key role in his decision to rejoin the club.
He told the club website: “We keep in touch all the time, and he’s an unbelievable person. I really like him a lot and he was the main key for me to be in the position that I am, that I signed for Manchester United.”
Ronaldo has reservations over staying at United as he would have to play in the Europa League for the first time.
New manager Erik ten Hag told a press conference last week he believes Ronaldo can play a key role this season and wants to keep him,
The Athletic report new signing Lisandro Martinez is also at Carrington along with Christian Eriksen, with United resuming training after pre-seaosn tour.
