Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club despite damaging his legacy at the club.
The 37-year-old promised to deliver his version of events a couple of months ago, which he dubbed the truth, after failing to secure a move to a Champions League club.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who had missed United’s last two games allegedly due to illness, decided to deliver his truth on Sunday evening, just hours after Erik ten Hag’s side had beaten Fulham, in an interview with Piers Morgan.
As well as claiming he’s been “betrayed” by the twenty-time league champions, United’s number seven went on a slanderous tirade which included him stating he doesn’t respect Ten Hag.
Peter Schmeichel wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Manchester United

Despite Ronaldo’s latest attempt to undermine Ten Hag’s authority and engineer a move away from the club he supposedly loves, Schmeichel still somewhat bizarrely wants the former Juventus marksman to stay at Old Trafford.
Schmeichel, who won five Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson with the Reds, told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I believe in fairy tales.
“I’m a big big fan of Ronaldo. I’ve always been a big fan of him…And I’m a big fan of Manchester United having the best players in the world.
“I hope there will be an opportunity where his people and Manchester United can sit down, and talk this through, and find a solution.
“I really want Cristiano to stay a Manchester United player.”

While Schmeichel wants Portugal’s captain to remain at the club, there is surely no way back for one of the game’s all-time greats.
Manchester United are a better team without him and while Ronaldo is seemingly struggling to accept that, he’s simply not the player he once was.
And instead of accepting a reduced role and looking to aid Ten Hag’s rebuild, the veteran is as usual focused on solely himself.
Ten Hag isn’t likely to share the same view as Schmeichel and ESPN report that the former Ajax manager has already told the club’s hierarchy that he believes Ronaldo shouldn’t play for the Red Devils again.
