Manchester United issue statement in response to Cristiano Ronaldo's interview

Manchester United has issued a statement in response to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s bombshell interview with Piers Morgan where he claims he’s been betrayed by the Red Devils.

Just hours after the twenty-time league champions beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Alejandro Garnacho, everybody was once again talking about our number seven.

In a damming interview with Piers Morgan, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner reveals that he has no disrespect for Erik ten Hag and claims he’s being forced out of the club.

While the former Juventus man is right to vent his frustration at the lack of progression in the facilities at the club since he left for Real Madrid in 2009, Portugal’s captain cannot resist hammering some of United’s current and former staff.

Ralf Rangnick and Wayne Rooney are among those who receive scathing remarks from one of the game’s all-time greats.

Having missed United’s last two games prior to the World Cup due to illness, Ronaldo looked in good health while being interviewed by one of his biggest cheerleaders Piers Morgan.

While United should be riding a wave of positivity following Garnacho’s late winner, the club find themselves once again dealing with the distraction of Ronaldo.

While Ronaldo’s powers to influence on the pitch continue to wane it seems his comments off the pitch are the only way he’ll stay relevant.

But his United legacy is tarnished, but it doesn’t look like he cares at all.

United’s statement on the club’s website reads: “Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.

“The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.

“Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
