Cristiano Ronaldo‘s former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas has paid tribute to the Manchester United star.

Casillas played alongside Ronaldo at Real between 2009 and 2015, a six season spell in which the superstar scored a staggering 313 goals.

Ronaldo extended this tally to 700 club strikes at the weekend, hitting the winner against Everton at the weekend.

Iker Casillas sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo

Iker Casillas sent a message on Twitter congratulating Ronaldo, and reassuring him that his regular goal glut will quickly resume.

He wrote: “700 goals at club level is absolutely crazy Sir @Cristiano !! Patience. Everything will return to its place.”

Casillas’ message came days after he had posted a controversial tweet from his account and later claimed he was ‘hacked’, BBC Sport reported.

Ronaldo’s achievements are remarkable and deserve highlighting, and United’s players all came together to pose for a celebratory photo at Carrington.

Casillas’ international successor, David de Gea, posted a message of his own, reacting to Ronaldo’s incredible achievement.

Ronaldo has 144 club goals for Manchester United across his two spells at the club, and is one short of equalling David Herd’s figure of 145.

His former teammates Ruud van Nistelrooy are on 150 and Paul Scholes on 155, and it’s very possible he could overhaul both this season if he kicks on.
