There appears to be a little momentum behind the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Marseille.
The topic has been a talking point in France, RMC Sport report, and former Marseille striker Djibril Cisse has called for Ronaldo to sign for the Ligue 1 club.
Cisse reached out on Twitter, calling on ‘friend’ Ronaldo to make Marseille his next move if he leaves Manchester United.
Ronaldo, 37, is expected to leave United before the transfer deadline, however, his destination has remained unclear all summer.

The case for Cristiano Ronaldo to Marseille
A potential move to Marseille could be a great fit for Cristiano Ronaldo, considering the French club can offer him Champions League football after their second placed finish in Ligue 1 last season.
Cisse is optimistic Ronaldo might heed his plea and sign before the transfer deadline.
In addition to offering a chance to play in the Champions League, Marseille would allow Ronaldo the chance to renew his rivalry with Lionel Messi, who is now starring in France with PSG.
Ronaldo would join the team considered to be underdogs, who have also just signed former United attacker Alexis Sanchez, and they are on the verge of wrapping up a loan move for United defender Eric Bailly.
Marseille have a passionate fanbase who would love to celebrate Ronaldo’s star power, the move would really put them back on the map.
Ronaldo’s routes out of United are very limited, and so if an offer were to come in from Marseille, Ronaldo would have to consider it.
