Cristiano Ronaldo sends message after making Manchester United return
Cristiano Ronaldo says he is happy to be back after making his first appearance of pre-season for Manchester United.
Ronaldo played 45 minutes at Old Trafford against Rayo Vallecano in a 1-1 draw, with Amad scoring United’s goal in the second half.
Ronaldo had one clear cut chance after being put through on goal but skied his effort, showing he is still a little rusty after the summer break.
He was substituted at half-time, a pre-planned move from manager Erik ten Hag, as he helps the superstar build his fitness up.
Ronaldo received a positive reception from the Old Trafford crowd, despite ongoing doubts about his future at the club.
Ronaldo ‘happy to be back’
Ronaldo sent a message out after the game via Instagram, conveying his thoughts on making his return at Old Trafford.
The Portuguse superstar says he is ‘happy to be back’, an indication he may be content to stay after all.
There was some controversy on social media after the game after Ronaldo was seen leaving Old Trafford before the final whistle, The Mirror report.
But it’s unlikely this would have happened without the approval of manager Erik ten Hag, whatever the reason, even if it was far from a great look.
Its very doubtful Ronaldo will start against Brighton next weekend, but he is likely to be part of the squad when United’s season kicks off.
