Cristiano Ronaldo has been helping Marcus Rashford improve his positioning

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been helping his Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford improve his positioning, according to The Sun.

Despite Erik ten Hag opting to play Rashford down the middle ahead of United’s number seven, the 37-year-old wants to help the England international improve certain aspects of his game.

The 24-year-old has started the season in impressive fashion after enduring an underwhelming 2021-22 campaign.

Rashford has three goals and two assists from six Premier League games so far this season. The academy graduate scored just four top-flight goals last season and failed to net in any domestic game he started.

While Ronaldo last season was United’s top scorer with 24 goals across all competitons.

Following the arrival of Ten Hag, the pairs fortunes have dramatically changed, and with United optimistic that Rashford will be fit to return against Manchester City after suffering a muscle injury against Arsenal at the start of this month, Ronaldo could drop back to the bench having started the last two Europa League games.

The Sun’s report on Ronaldo helping Rashford states: “He’s been spending time with him, talking about the game and giving his constructive criticism about positioning on the pitch.”

Ronaldo’s positioning and movement inside the penalty area has helped him continue scoring goals at a phenomenal rate despite entering the twilight stages of his career.

Having the opportunity to play alongside one of the greatest of all time doesn’t come around often and like Rashford, all of Ronaldo’s teammates should be paying attention to how the former Juventus man dedicates himself to the game and soaking up information.
