Conte says it would have been a bad night for United without Ronaldo

Diego Simeone has given his verdict on Manchester United’s win over his Tottenham side.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a stunning hat-trick to win the game, including a powerful header to put United into fourth spot once more.

Conte was asked about Ronaldo’s treble in his interview with Sky Sports after the game and said that the Portuguese superstar is one of the best players to ever grace the pitch.

“We are talking about a player that not only this night has shown to be a top, top player,” said Conte.

“Ronaldo and Messi are the two best players in the world in this era. Before, it was Maradona, then Pele.

“You have to know really well when you play against this type of player, they will be decisive.

“I honestly think without this player tonight for Manchester United it would not be a good night.”

Tottenham dominated possession on another evening where United looked short of the mark defensively but did not make huge amounts of chances.

Ronaldo was the difference maker, taking an xG of under one and turning it into a hat-trick and a vital victory in the Champions League chase.

The forward has been talked about plenty this week after his Manchester derby no-show and he responded in the best possible way.
