Manchester United youngster Willy Kambwala made his return to action for the under-18s at the weekend.
The young centre-back featured as United beat Middlesbrough 3-0 at Carrington.
The match was Kambwala’s first game of the 2022/23 season, and one he was able to mark with a clean sheet.
The defender expressed his happiness on Instagram at making his return to action in a Red Devils shirt.
Willy Kambwala makes long-awaited return
Kambwala signed for Manchester United on transfer deadline in 2020, the same day Facundo Pellistri and Amad’s deals were done.
He joined United from Sochaux, where he arrived as a highly rated France youth international.
It has been a bit of a struggle for Kambwala at Old Trafford due to injuries, he made only one appearance in his debut season.
Kambwala made his return last season, before suffering a setback which kept him out of action early this season.
Now he has made his long-awaited return, and will be desperate to stay fit and make 2023 a success.
Now 18, United will be keen for Kambwala to make the step up to under-21 football and accelerate his development.
This can happen if he stays fit, and coming through the full 90 minutes at the weekend was an encouraging sign.
