Manchester United’s next wave of exciting talent has been confirmed, and Emmanuel Ziro has a shot at making history at Old Trafford.
Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Man Utd announced the names of 15 players who have earned scholarship deals at Old Trafford.
It includes highly-rated talent signed last year, like Camron Mpofu and Harley Emsden-James, while some familiar surnames include Jacey Carrick and Kai Rooney.
However, none of those youngsters have the chance to create history for Man Utd. That is down to Emmanuel Ziro.

Who has been Manchester United’s academy Player of the Season 2025/26?
We've collated a selection of the best performers across U18 and U21 football… Who has been best?
Who is Emmanuel Ziro?
Emmanuel Ziro is a 16-year-old winger/forward signed by United in late 2024/early 2025 from Cre8tive Football Academy in West London, a grassroots club.
He has been with the club’s U15s side since signing, and has now done enough to earn a scholarship deal at Carrington for the upcoming season.
Ziro will play his first minutes for the U18s in the 2026/27 season, and he will be following in the footsteps of some exciting wingers like Noah Ajayi and JJ Gabriel, who should be promoted this season.
Ziro can play across the front line, but prefers to play on the left, from where he can cut inside onto his stronger right foot.
However, he is good with his left foot as well, so he can play on the right wing, as well as behind the striker.
Emmanuel Ziro potential and style of play
Man Utd are Ziro’s first “professional footballing education”, having been signed from a grassroots club instead of another academy, so he has a long way to go.
Ziro has all the traits to become an electric wide forward with his combination of pace, skills, and dribbling.
He is quick off the dribble, and his change of direction allows him to drop a shoulder and beat his opponents in 1v1 situations.
At just 16, the end product has a long time to come, but he has all the raw tools that can be honed to become a tricky winger.
Ziro is not rapid, but he more than makes up for it with his mastery of the ball in close spaces and movement off the ball.
Predict who will be the next Manchester United academy graduate…
Will Michael Carrick crown number 259 before this season ends?🤔
In terms of a senior comparison, Ziro is like a trickier Matheus Cunha, if he were a natural winger instead of a No. 10-turned-left-winger.
Ziro can make Man Utd history
Ziro is yet to declare for a national team, but he’s born in Kenya, so he could become the first-ever Kenyan footballer to play for Man Utd.
He has not been capped as yet, but that is certainly a remarkable chance to write his name in the folklore of this legendary club.
The first steps for him would be to make his mark at the U18s level this coming season. If he comes anywhere close to the benchmark set by talents like Gabriel and Ajayi, then he could be fast-tracked.
That is a long way away as of now, but he’s already started well for the U15s with some nice performances last season.
The challenge is to carry over that form to the next stage, and so on.
