Manchester United under-19s beat Monaco

The young Red Devils squad won the opening game of the tournament 3-2, recovering from going a goal down early.

Jack Moorhouse, Ethan Williams and Victor Musa scored Manchester United’s goals.

Musa’s winning strike came courtesy of a fantastic run through the Monaco midfield from substitute Shea Lacey. His shot at goal was saved, with Musa slotting in the rebound.

Musa, 16, scored for the under-21s in a friendly at the end of last season and featured regularly for the under-18s in the second half of last season, scoring six times.

Moorhouse and Williams are also expected to play prominent roles for the under-18s this season, having both netted for the side last year.

The young squad played at the Super Cup NI last week and had disappointing results, so getting the win was a good confidence boost for the side.

United will also send an under-19s side to feature in the UEFA Youth League this season so it is useful to get used to facing continental opposition.

Starting XI: Elyh Harrison, Finley McAllister, Reece Munro, Louis Jackson, Jayden Kamason, Jayce Fitzgerald, Jack Moorhouse, Jacob Devaney, James Scanlon, Ethan Williams, Victor Musa.
