Released Manchester United youngster Reece Devine signs with Swindon Town
Released Manchester United youngster Reece Devine has signed a contract with Swindon Town.
Devine was one of 11 players whose departures were confirmed by Manchester United earlier this month, including the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
The left-back was one of three academy players released, along with D’Mani Mellor and Connor Stanley. Martin Svidersky will join them, turning down United’s offer of an extension.
Devine did not play a first team game for Manchester United during his spell at the club, having joined from rivals City.
Reece Devine signs with Swindon Town
Swindon Town confirmed the deal for Reece Devine via their official website, snapping up the 20-year-old left-back as a free agent.
Devine spent last season out on loan in two spells, with St Johnstone in Scotland where he played a Europa League qualifier, and in League Two with Walsall.
He will be playing League Two football with Swindon this upcoming season, having signed a two-year contract with the club.
Swindon manager Scott Lindsey said: “Reece is a very capable left sided player who adds another dimension to the way we want to play. His ability to attack and get forward will enhance our creativity edge and I’m really excited to see him develop and express himself.”
Sandro Di Michele, technical director, added: “Reece is a high calibre young player with experience in the academies of some top Premier League sides, and we’re delighted to have him onboard.
“He also brings with him some valuable experience in League Two and playing in Scotland, which has contributed massively to his development, and I’ve no doubt he’ll have a really positive impact on the pitch moving forward.”
