Charlie Wellens signs for Reading
Charlie Wellens, 20, has clinched a deal to sign with League One side Reading, where he will reunite with Manchester United under-21s teammate Charlie Savage, who was sold to the Royals earlier this summer.
Wellens confirmed on Instagram: “Delighted to have signed for @readingfc Can’t wait to get started.”
MORE UNITED STORIES
Charlie Wellens has experience of competitive football already, with a loan at Oldham Athletic last season in the National League, in which he got on to scoresheet.
Now he jumps up a couple of divisions and will be keen to make an impression and force his way into the side.
Finding a club was the first step. Wellens will likely have had offers lower down the Football League, and will consider that Reading was worth the wait.
