Manchester United youngster Shea Lacey has signed a new contract at the club.

Academy Arena reported via Instagram that Lacey had signed a contract at the club.

Lacey, 16, has stood out at youth level for Manchester United and made his under-18s debut last season when he was just 15.

The teenager also impressed in pre-season, scoring in an under-21s friendly against non-league Gainsborough.

Shea Lacey signs deal

Shea Lacey is regarded as Manchester United’s most talented player in his age range, and that says a lot, because there are a lot of highly promising youngsters coming through the academy.

Lacey has represented England at under-16s level and is expected to feature prominently for Manchester United’s under-18s this season.

Lacey’s father Paddy confirmed the news via Twitter, writing he was ‘so happy’, adding that the young prospect ‘has had a ball glued to his feet from the day he could walk’.

He attached pictures of Lacey putting pen to paper on his new deal.

On track for the top

There is a long way for Shea Lacey to go to reach the top, his career is just beginning. There could be many pitfalls ahead. But he has as good a chance as anyone of making it into the first team. Many would even say he is a sure bet.

Lacey is a strong dribbler with great balance, excellent at free-kicks, and is a natural when it comes to scoring and creating goals.

Within a couple of years it would not be a surprise to see him make his Manchester United debut, if he can carry on performing to a high level.
