Manchester United’s academy stars were in action this afternoon when an XI took on Gainsborough Trinity Football Club.
United fielded a strong line-up against the non-league side and it was Shea Lacey who yet again impressed at the Northolme in a 1-1 draw.
United’s XI: Harrison, Kamason, Mengi, Jackson, Mantato, Baumann, Mcallister, Berry, Scanlon, Lacey, Wheatley.
Substitutes: Wooster, Ogunneye, Williams, Munro, Huddlestone, Devaney, Fitzgerald.
Shea Lacey impresses once again
Highly-rated youngster Shea Lacey impressed once again for the Red Devils. A smart dinked finish from the winger has once again added to the already growing excitement about the Englishman.
After being compared to Lionel Messi last season, for his fantastic goal against Wolves last season by some supporters, it looks set to be another big season for the academy winger, and at just 16 years of age, the young prospect already looks to have high hopes of being able to impress for United.

Familiar faces return for United
There was a familiar face in the heart of the United defence. Teden Mengi, who has featured on loan at Derby County and Birmingham City, was starting at the heart of the defence for the Red Devils.
The 21-year-old defender was given his first team debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in 2020, has had a difficult season with injuries but will be hoping another loan can be arranged.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Mengi would have hoped to be with the first team squad, having started in a friendly match in December under Erik ten Hag before suffering an injury. It is a positive sign for him to be back playing and getting his summer off to a positive start, even if he is not at the level he aspires to be just yet.
Another familiar face for United was Tom Huddlestone, the former Tottenham Hotspur player, was part of the youth teams last season and has been a player-coach since 2021.
