Manchester United’s academy emerged 3-1 victors against Everton yesterday, with Shola Shoretire in and amongst the goals once again.
Joe Hugill opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a neat finish from a cut-back which got the young Red Devils flowing for the day.
United captain Shola Shoretire then doubled the lead after 30 minutes. His clever free-kick rolled under the wall and into the bottom-left corner.
Everton did pull one back in the second half before Hugill scored once again to round off a competent 3-1 victory.

Shola Shoretire shines for academy
Shoretire is on fire for the academy at the moment.
He took to Instagram after the game to share his thoughts on the victory: ‘Good win today, happy to get on the scoresheet,’ he writes.
The captain was immense throughout and deserved some of the praise he was getting in his comments section.
The likes of Charlie Wellens, Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill and many more all had something to say – but it was academy winger Shea Lacey‘s comment which stood out amongst the rest.

Shoretire can’t stop scoring… should Ten Hag take note?
Lacey is right – Shoretire can’t stop scoring.
The goal against Everton made it four in four games for the academy side, so should Erik ten Hag be taking notes? We believe so, yes.
The last time Shoretire featured for United’s senior squad was on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign, but with goals a rarity at the moment – his fine goalscoring touch could be what the first-team squad needs.
None of United’s forwards are doing a very good job in advanced roles, so we see no harm in giving Shoretire a go once again.
Since his last appearance, he’s definitely matured. He’s comfortably captaining the United academy side and is consistently performing, so it’s only a matter of time before he’ll be in contention for Ten Hag’s men.
