Key points

Manchester United’s Premier League campaign begins on Sunday against Arsenal, but on Wednesday night the U21s are in action.

After a long summer, Manchester United’s U21 side are set to kick off their competitive season in the National League Cup.

The tournament was enjoyable last season with the Red Devils beaten in the quarter finals by Sutton United by a 3-0 scoreline.

United started the clash with Tamworth playing some excellent football, dominating the hosts and creating plenty of half opportunities.

However, just before the stroke of half-time, Sekou Kone suffered a clash of heads which resulted in him being stretchered off the pitch after a substantial period of time getting treatment on the pitch.

Kone’s injury ultimately led to the game being abandoned, due to there being no ambulance on site as the Malian teenager is expected to be transported to hospital.

Below is the 40 minutes of action as they happened.

United in Focus will be covering the game against Tamworth live on Wednesday night.

With Kone down receiving treatment for the past five or six minutes, the referee has now suspended the game and sent the players in for early half-time.
