Manchester United are set to hand Joe Hugill a new contract as he continues to impress Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United have returned to their old ways this season to date with several youngsters beginning to establish themselves in the first team.
From the academy, Hannibal Mejbri and Kobbie Mainoo have been the most notable players to make their mark while Willy Kambwala and Dan Gore have also begun taking their first steps in senior football.
Another who’s become a regular in the squad but is yet to feature is Joe Hugill. The forward has been named on the bench several times over the past few months – including a Champions League tie against Bayern Munich – and likely has an eye on the FA Cup tie against Wigan for a possible debut.
But now, on the eve of a trip to Nottingham Forest, it seems Hugill is set for some seriously good news.

Joe Hugill set for new contract
The report is according to Manchester Evening News and suggests Hugill could be in line for a brand new contract.
The reason for this is that the 20-year-old forward has been ‘impressing’ Erik ten Hag with his displays at U21 level this season and his contributions to the senior side in pre-season.
In the summer tour, Hugill scored against Leeds United but was also lauded for his ‘superb’ and ‘old school’ performance against Lyon later in the tour.
Hugill could have a breakout 2024
Hugill could find himself on the cusp of a breakthrough at United in 2024 with Ten Hag showing that he is more than willing to give youngsters a chance already.
With striking options at Old Trafford limited really to just Rasmus Hojlund – due to Anthony Martial’s continued struggles – Hugill could be called upon.
The FA Cup tie against Wigan is a game which Hugill will no doubt have signposted as a potential appearance and it would be good to see him in action.
