Manchester United’s U18s side kicked off their FA Youth Cup campaign with a win against Derby County last night.
The young Red Devils took to the Old Trafford turf to kickstart their FA Youth Cup campaign and emerged victorious on home soil thanks to a goal from second-half substitute Ethan Williams.
There were plenty of solid performances, including the centre-half duo, but none were arguably more impressive than Jack Fletcher in the midfield.
The 16-year-old was superb on the night, but one moment got Manchester United fans excited.

Jack Fletcher’s moment of magic for Man Utd 18s
Jack Fletcher was superb for Manchester United’s U18s in the midfield. He dominated the expansive Old Trafford turf for the entirety of the fixture, but one moment stood out among most.
Just before the 80th minute, Fletcher found himself on the bouncing ball just inside his own half.
On the swivel, the young midfielder pinged an immense half-volleyed pass which sprayed across the entirety of the Old Trafford pitch and found Ashtin Missin on the right wing.
It was his undeniable best highlight out of so many – and it got Manchester United fans talking.

Another chimed in: ‘First time properly watching him tonight. Looks quality.’
A final added: ‘Short of words to describe that phenomenal performance by Jack Fletcher tonight. The ability to disguise intent, selection & weight of pass, the anticipation of danger, box defending, etc I could go on for hours. Keep it up & the future is bright lads.’
Manchester United have a real talent in Fletcher. His dad, Darren Fletcher, must be immensely proud.
