Manchester United FA Youth Cup winner Kobbie Mainoo has signed his first professional contract with the club, after a fantastic season.
Mainoo turned 17 last month and has put pen to paper on a contract, committing his future to the Red Devils.
The teenager posted a picture on Instagram and hailed it as a ‘great way to end a successful season’.
Mainoo signs first professional contract
Mainoo played his first game for Manchester United’s under-18s side when he was aged just 15, back in October 2020.
He made 11 appearances last season before stepping up on a more regular basis in 2021/22.
Mainoo has stepped in as a must-start in big games in central midfield for the under-18s, starting in every game of United’s FA Youth Cup run.
The midfielder has shown skilful traits and quick footwork in possession, along with an ability to pick a pass and chip in and score goals.

Mainoo played 31 games in all competitions for United’s academy in 2021/22, scoring four goals.
While the majority of his appearances came at under-18 level, Mainoo also featured for the under-23s at just 16, and featured in the UEFA Youth League.
United won’t rush Mainoo into the first team, but he is a player who certainly has the ability to get there, and he will get more under-23 opportunities next season.

Along with FA Youth Cup midfield starters Dan Gore and Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Mainoo’s emergence gives Manchester United real hope for the future, at a position which has been somewhat problematic in recent years.
Mainoo’s United teammates were quick to congratulate him on his deal, sending messages in response to his Instagram post.
