Manchester United’s U18s look well-placed to repeat the 2023/24 success.
Adam Lawrence’s U18 side opened the U18 Premier League season on Saturday, with Manchester United beat rivals Manchester City 2-0 away from home in the game.
Both Gabriele Biancheri and Bendito Mantato were on the scoresheet for the United Academy in a win which sent a statement to the league.
Tyler Fletcher assisted Biancheri, a day after his twin brother Jack scored his third U21 goal in as many games. While Zach Baumann assisted Mantato.
The U18 side comprised a few of last season’s players but also several of the next generation who are tipped to be even more exciting than the treble-winning U18 side within Manchester United.

After the game, Biancheri took to Instagram with a message along with images of him in action during the Manchester Derby.
The striker wrote: “Derby Day W”, with a tick emoji and a football emoji.
Under this, his teammates were responding with Tyler Fletcher writing: “How may I assist you”, referencing the assist he provided for the Welshman.
Ethan Wheatley wrote: “Bagsman”.
Tyler’s twin Jack Fletcher then commented: “What a player”, with a flame emoji.
Finally, Mantato commented: “Top”, along with a flame emoji.
It is always nice to see how the academy lads back each other up and support each other – it likely plays a big role in the success the club have had recently in what is a real golden era.
Manchester United have a golden academy group
There are some true Manchester United greats who came through the academy, and the current crop has numerous names with the potential to follow in their footsteps.
Jayce Fitzgerald is one who has been almost forgotten due to injuries but he had an excellent outing against City.
Elsewhere at both the U21 and U18 levels, some players have the ability to go on and become starters for United in the future – one of which is Amir Ibragimov who is now set to be a U18 regular this season.
Ibragimov has recently trained with the senior side and is seen among the very top prospects at the club right now – only injuries are stopping him from being the most exciting.
Ibragimov is one of many academy players bidding to be the latest academy player to be handed a United debut by Erik ten Hag.
This season seems like another one to watch for the academy with plenty of exciting players.
