Garnacho praised for stepping up

Garnacho now has four goals in four games in the FA Youth Cup this season. In all competitions he has 14 goals and five assists.

His performance was praised by former United youngster David Jones, who captained the Red Devils to win the FA Youth Cup in 2003.

Jones told MUTV: “He’s popped up with another great moment to send the boys through. He’s a moments man, he produces moments when you need it. I’m really impressed with him with each game.”

Discussing his free-kick, Jones added: “He steps up, it’s a good hit from him. He hits the target, hits it with pace, with whip on it.”

The 17-year-old is enjoying a breakout season in the academy and has been stepping up to the under-23s too, where two of his goals can be accounted for.

He seems to enjoy the stage of Old Trafford, where he has struck all four of his FA Youth Cup goals.

This brace came in front of 10,000 fans, and most notably, first team manager Ralf Rangnick.

Teammate Kobbie Mainoo, who provided the assist for the winner, shared a video of the decisive goal.
