Ethan Williams scored his first league goal for Manchester United as Travis Binnion’s Under-18s side won their season opener.
The young Reds beat Nottingham Forest in a re-run of last season’s FA Youth Cup final 3-0 at Carrington.
Manni Norkett opened the scoring in the 13th minute after showing great composure to slot home his one-v-one chance after being played in on goal by Sam Mather.

Williams doubled United’s lead on the stroke of half-time after he prodded home a Sam Murray cross from the left-hand side.
With 15 minutes remaining, Ethan Wheatley, who also netted his first league goal for the Reds, put the three points beyond doubt with a neat touch, turn and finish from inside the penalty area.

Binnion’s side are up to fourth place having won their Premier League Under-18 opener and they are three points off the leaders who have played a game more.
With the majority of Binnion’s FA Youth Cup winning side moving up to the Under-21s or in Alejandro Garnacho‘s case the first-team, there will be plenty of opportunities for new stars to emerge from the under-18s side this season.
Only three players from last season’s FA Youth Cup success started the 2022-23 opener against Forest – Sam Murray, Louis Jackson and Sam Mather.
