Ethan Williams brace fires Manchester United u18s to victory

Ethan Williams grabs the headlines as Manchester United u18s solidify their position in 3rd with a 2-0 win over Middlesborough.

United got off to a quick start, opening the scoring inside the first minute through Ethan Williams’ free-kick. A deflection coming off the Middlesborough wall changed the balls trajectory enough to carry it past the goalkeeper.

The second came four minutes later through Williams again as he bombed down the left wing before slotting his finish cooly underneath the Borough goalkeeper.

United proceeded to dominate the remaining 85 minutes however the two early goals were ultimately enough to secure the 2-0 win.

A strong team performance, was won by two moments from Williams who was undoubtedly player of the match in a position unfamiliar to him.

Ethan Williams’ season to date

Williams has had an impressive season in what is likely to be his last full season at u18 level; given he turns 18 in November.

The 17-year-old winger, has enjoyed a fruitful season in an attacking sense. The youngster has five goals and seven assists this season to date in his 18 league appearances.

He has also demonstrated his versatility playing in various positions across the entire pitch. Ranging from right-wing to left-back and even midfield, which is a testament to his ability.

Williams joined United in 2019 from Rochdale, and has worked his way through the various youth teams to the u18s. He will undoubtedly have his eyes on progression up to the next age category next year.
