Manchester United U19s took on Bayern Munich in the UEFA Youth League today.
After one win, one draw and three defeats, the academy side were unable to qualify for the knockout stages, but Manchester United could use this as another vital opportunity to face a fantastic European side.
The game finished 2-0 to Bayern, with the young Germans sensational at the Leigh Sports Village. Goals from Michael Scott and, the captain, Javier Fernandez sealed the victory for Munich.
There was little to shout about for Manchester United, other than the fact that two rising academy stars both made their debut at this level.

Bendito Mantato makes Manchester United U19 debut
With the game done and dusted at 2-0 and the obvious knowledge that they were already well eliminated from the tournament, United decided to hand a U19 debut to a 15-year-old.
Bendito Mantato came on for Habeeb Ogunneye in the 83rd minute. The young midfielder only had six minutes on the pitch, so didn’t make a mark – but what a milestone for the young lad.
Mantato made an appearance for Manchester United’s under-18s side in the 2023 pre-season in Northern Ireland and has been playing for England’s youth sides, but this will be a proud day for him playing four years above his age. He is one to watch in the future.
Gabriele Biancheri makes Manchester United U19 debut
Alongside Mantato, 17-year-old wonderkid Gabriele Biancheri also featured for the very first time in the U19 setup. The Welsh striker also came on for the last six minutes or so, replacing Victor Musa.
Again, like his teammate, he didn’t have much impact, apart from one run at goal with around three minutes to go which came to nothing.
The youngster committed his future to the club by signing a professional deal back in September and is held in high regard.
The striker likened to Sergio Aguero is one of the academy’s finest talents and will definitely be featuring more for the U19 side after being given his first few minutes against Munich.
