Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is a transfer target for both Bayern Munich and Juventus, according to ESPN.
Henderson is currently on loan at Championship side Sheffield United and his form there has reportedly impressed the reigning champions of both Germany and Italy, as well as Arsenal and Tottenham.
The 21-year-old has around 18 months left on his current United deal – the club also have an option to extend that for another year – and he is apparently seen by some academy staff as a potential future number one.
There has been a growing trend for young English talent to seek greater opportunities abroad – especially in Germany – in recent times and it may be tempting for Henderson to follow suit.
But as a goalkeeper, he is in a slightly different position to the likes of Jadon Sancho, and it is difficult to see how his opportunities would be any greater behind Manuel Neuer than they would be behind David de Gea.
Henderson is an extremely talented goalkeeper – seemingly ahead of fellow young stopper Joel Pereira in his development – and is capable of taking on the mantle of being second choice ahead of more experienced options Sergio Romero and Lee Grant.
Getting to the same level as de Gea is another ask entirely – but he does have the quality and personality to go on and become England number one in the future.
Therefore, it would be an error for United to let one of their own go at this stage of his career, because there is every chance he could shine elsewhere – like Sancho.
