Manchester United make Yannick Carrasco a 'serious target'

Manchester United have identified Yannick Carrasco as a top transfer target, The Telegraph report.

The Belgian is reported to be a ‘serious target’ and is regarded as an alternative to Christian Pulisic.

The Telegraph report Carrasco is available for a fee of £25.5 million.

A move for Carrasco would seemingly end United’s pursuit of Ajax winger Antony.

Manchester United make Yannick Carrasco a ‘serious target’

Carrasco, 28, missed both Atletico Madrid matches against Manchester United earlier this year due to suspension.

In the past two La Liga seasons he has scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists.

He has had two spells with Atletico, with a stint at Chinese side Dalian in between.

Carrasco has 57 caps for his country and eight goals, and is expected to be part of Belgium’s World Cup squad later this year.

He played last season mainly as a left winger, although can also feature on the right, or through the middle.

Carrasco is a solid addition, albeit somewhat underwhelming. £25.5 million is fair value for a player of his quality and experience, and he could be a player who Erik ten Hag can take to a new level.

United still need to add a striker, but there is a risk that Carrasco could be the ‘attacking signing’ United bolster the squad with, which doesn’t really solve the shortage of centre-forward options.

United are reported to be confident of a deal for Casemiro, which would cost £60 million, The Telegraph report, limiting the funds available for other positions
