Manchester United are now being linked with a move for Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kacioglu.

While Marca report Manchester United will turn to Marc Cucurella to solve the club’s left-back crisis, another name has been put forward.

Turkish outlet Fotospor claims Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kacioglu is a name under consideration by Manchester United.

The Red Devils are already set to sign goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce, and outlet Milligazette even speculate whether the pair could be announced together.

Who is Ferdi Kacioglu

Ferdi Kacioglu is 23-years-old and plays for Fenerbahce, having signed for the club as a teenager back in 2018.

He is a senior Turkey international with 11 caps to his name so far since being called up for the first time in 2022.

Kacioglu is more than just a left-back. Last season he featured at right-back for Fenerbahce, and also in midfield, and this versatility could appeal to Erik ten Hag.

He wears the number seven shirt for Fenerbahce, scoring four times last season for the club and also providing five assists.

In total he has made 155 appearances for Fenerbahce, scoring 15 goals.

Dutch connection

Like with nearly all of Erik ten Hag’s signings, there is a Dutch link. Kacioglu was actually born in the Netherlands, in Arnhem, and began his career at NEC Nijmegen, where he played 70 times.

He played for the Netherlands at youth level from under-16s right through including under-21s, before committing to Turkey at senior level.

The defender may not be top of United’s list but heading into this final week of the transfer window, anything can happen. This is just one to note, in case it develops further.
