West Ham United have opened talks with Ajax for the signing of Manchester United linked Mohammed Kudus, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United were reported by The Telegraph earlier this season to have Kudus on a shortlist of attacking options and it was even reported that the forward would be very keen on linking back up with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Nothing ever really materialised, but it’s certainly a player that will remain on Manchester United‘s radar – with the Cameroonian wanting to leave this summer.

But now it appears United may lose out on him to Premier League rivals… although it does depend on bitter rivals Manchester City’s decision.

Ever-reliable transfer source Fabrizio Romano exclusively reported that West Ham have opened initial talks to sign Mohammed Kudus from Ajax.

There have been ‘positive talks’ from the player’s side and he appears to be open on the move.

West Ham would be getting a very talented player. The £40m rated man has been dazzling in the Eredivisie and Champions League for Ajax – who will be gutted to see him go.

Kudus can play multiple positions in the attacking phase. He’s comfortable as a CAM, a winger and even a striker.

His versatility would be very beneficial for the Hammers, as it, sadly, would’ve been for Manchester United. However, it all depends on if another deal goes through.

Lucas Paqueta to Man City would need to happen first

Romano also stated that the deal will only go through if City bite the bullet on Lucas Paqueta.

The Cityzens are keen to secure the Brazilian, which could be secured in a deal of up to £95m.

This would mean they made £200m on two players alone this summer. Kudus would be pocket change for David Moyes!
