Manchester United players are expecting Mason Mount to sign for the club this summer, it is being claimed.

Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian writes on Twitter: “Am told that United players are expecting Mount to join them this summer.”

He backs up reports from The Telegraph that personal terms have been agreed between Manchester United and Mason Mount.

No fee has yet been agreed between Manchester United and Chelsea. The Times had claimed Manchester United are expected to make an offer after the FA Cup final.

Manchester United pushing for Mason Mount

Mason Mount is not part of the England squad for the upcoming qualifiers. This is because he ended the season recovering from a minor injury.

He knows Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire from the England set up, and it is likely the United players who ‘expect’ Mount to sign, comprises of this trio.

Last week Shaw expressed his desire to see United make moves in the transfer market.

He told Football Daily: “It’s clear to see we are going in the right direction. We have to be challenging for the title, with this team, definitely with the direction the manager is going under, we are going to make new signings, big signings this summer.

“Hopefully we can get them done as quickly as possible so they are in for pre-season. Our aim at the beginning of next season has to be winning the Premier League.”

Mount, 23, has just one year left on his contract at Chelsea and is widely reported to be very keen to move on for a fresh start.

Manchester United can offer Champions League football, while Chelsea don’t have any European football on offer.

Steinberg reports Liverpool had been favourites to land Mount, before Manchester United stepped up interest.
