It’s no secret that Manchester United are scouring the market in search of a new left-back following the muscle injury picked up by current starter Luke Shaw.
There have been strong links to three left-backs, remarkably they’re all Spanish. Marc Cucurella, Marcos Alonso and Sergio Reguilon, it seems likely, however, that Cucurella will be the chosen option at full-back for United.
However, remarkably, another Spanish left-back has entered the mix and there are fears from his current club that United could well bid for him.
According to Deportes Cope, a Spanish outlet, Erik ten Hag’s side have added Valencia left-back Jose Gaya to their list of targets for that position this summer.

Gaya interest
The report claims that Valencia are concerned they could lose the left-back so close to the end of the transfer window but he is reportedly a strong option for United and Ten Hag.
The Spaniard may well be available for a cheap price, too. This is down to Valencia’s money issues that they have had over recent seasons so United may well use that to their advantage if they make a serious play for the 27-year-old.
However, despite the Spanish side’s concern, the option that United are pushing for the most is the Chelsea left-back Cucurella.
Latest on Cucurella deal
The 25-year-old is seemingly the player closest to joining United this summer with the two clubs still ironing out the details of the loan agreement. This includes how much United will pay the West London club, according to Fabrizio Romano, via GiveMeSport.
The left-back featured against AFC Wimbledon last night and looked like one of Chelsea’s best players on the night.
If the move for the defender is completed in time, then the former Getafe left-back will surely be thrust into the starting 11 for the game at the Emirates.
