Manchester United are seemingly progressing quickly on the deal to sign Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund.

After worries that PSG were about to hijack the deal for the 20-year-old forward from Atalanta, it seems United are relaxed about the situation but are keen to wrap up a deal for the centre-forward despite their being a belief from United that the Dane would prefer a move to England over Paris.

‘He’s obsessed with United’

Fabrizio Romano, via his YouTube channel, gave the latest on United’s pursuit of the Danish forward.

“Manchester United are preparing a new attack [bid] for Rasmus Højlund this weekend,” Romano said. “The striker is obsessed with the idea of playing for United.”

The forward has been linked with United throughout the summer and it seemed a deal was a straight race for United, but according to The Athletic, PSG made an offer of around £45 million.

This offer was believed to be lower than United’s which was the same base fee as the French side but also included add-ons to sweeten the deal.

Atalanta have reportedly been asking for around £63 million but so far neither side have come close to that amount for the exciting forward.

‘He wants to go to Manchester United’

Romano has also claimed the forward wants to go to United despite PSG’s reported interest.

Loic Tanzi from L’Equipe claimed that Hojlund is flattered by PSG’s interest, but the forward is determined to make the move to Manchester United and honour his contractual agreement with the club.

Hojlund would form an exciting front three were he to complete the move to Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford on the left and Antony on the right, United would have the base of an exciting front three.

The Old Trafford club would also have Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho on the bench for rotation, suddenly United’s attack would look very strong.
