Manchester United were linked with a move for Brazilian defender Vanderson during the summer, he has now explained he enjoyed the rumours.

Back as early as April, Vanderson was credited with interest from Erik ten Hag‘s side.

The Sun even went as far as claiming an offer was prepared and ready to launch.

Later reports from the window even mentioned Barcelona as a potential destination, with the Mail Online explaining that Xavi had pleaded with the Brazilian to wait a year.

This could be what is transpiring as United didn’t make the move in the end, with other positions proving to be priority at Old Trafford.

That hasn’t stopped the 22-year-old from commenting on the rumours however.

Vanderson has sat down with Trivela while on international duty with Brazil.

He was here quizzed on the what the links to United and Barcelona meant to him.

He explained: “It’s cool. Knowing that even if it’s nothing definitive, knowing that the work is recognised, even if it’s not so official, but it’s cool. The biggest clubs in the world, everyone knows. It’s great to know that your name is mentioned in big clubs.”

He was then asked if he would like to play Premier League football to which he responded: “Yeah. It’s a great league. Everybody knows. I have goals of maybe after a great career here at Monaco, a change too.”

Would he be a good fit at Old Trafford?

Vanderson is among the best emerging full-backs in the world at just 22 he has already debuted for Brazil and is among Monaco’s most influential players.

His arrival would likely lead to the departure of one of Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the RB berth simply too small for all three.

He has started this season on fire, with a goal and an assist in just four games.

He would be a brilliant option for Ten Hag, and while it wasn’t a priority this summer, next year could be a different story.
