Everton away is always one of those fixtures which stands out as a tough one on the fixture list.

Even Sir Alex Ferguson found this out the hard way several times, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first visit to Goodison Park ended in a 4-0 defeat.

Last season was a 1-1 draw, and United return to face Toffees in a fortnight.

Everton’s outstanding start to the season makes this fixture an even tougher proposition, but there is something going in United’s favour.

Double suspension

Everton will have two key players suspended for United’s visit to Merseyside.

Star player Richarlison will be serving the third game of his ban for his sending off against Liverpool.

Now Lucas Digne will also be unavailable after he was sent off against Southampton this weekend as Everton suffered their first loss of the season.

United will have Anthony Martial available after his final match of a three game ban is served this weekend away at Arsenal.

Everton will put up a tough test for United, but without Richarlison and Digne they will not be at full strength.

Strong away record

Another positive for United heading into the fixture is our own strong away record.

United have won five matches away in all competitions this season, and dating back to last season it is 10 in a row.

This record will be tested before the trip to Goodison.

United face Arsenal away this coming Sunday, and then Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League away from home, before the away trip to Everton.

If United win both of those, then Solskjaer’s side will head into that game ful of confidence.
