For a player Manchester United fans had such high hopes for, Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s loan spells have been a big disappointment.
He lost his place at Crystal Palace last season and his spell at Fulham has been worse.
The reviews from both sets of fans have ranged from indifferent to negative.
Fosu-Mensah’s Fulham have been relegated to the Championship and he has now apologised.

What next for Fosu-Mensah?

The Dutchman stepping up and taking responsibility is a sign of maturity, but it’s not his fault.
Fulham were a real mess this year from start to finish and he cannot be blamed for that.
He cannot be written off completely at United, but the signs are not good.

Fosu-Mensah can play in midfield and perhaps that’s where he needs more opportunities. It probably won’t be at United.
However, the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned Scott McTominay around in recent weeks suggest all is not lost for Fosu-Mensah at Old Trafford.
