Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Paul Pogba’s performance against Barcelona.
United lost 1-0 at Old Trafford, putting us at a disadvantage for the second leg.
Despite the poor result United played well and the three man midfield of Pogba, Fred, and Scott McTominay held it’s own.
While Pogba was not able to provide a cutting edge, Solskjaer has praised his work rate and contribution to the team.
The boss told Sky Sports: “I thought Paul made us play.
“He settled us down a bit, in the first half especially. We just fell away towards the end but the effort he put in physically was just tremendous.
“He had his highest-ever output physically so he has never run as much in a Man United shirt. That was brilliant, the effort and attitude is there.”
Solskjaer added that he is fully confident Pogba will be staying put at Old Trafford in the summer, dismissing links with Real Madrid.
If Pogba thought he ran a lot at Old Trafford, wait until he visits the Nou Camp.
Barcelona are famed for their ball retention and United face playing much of the game without the ball.
In possession United need to be clinical, just like away to PSG.
The tie isn’t over by a long stretch, but Pogba will have to raise his game further, despite Solskjaer’s encouragement.
