Predicted Manchester United XI to play Chelsea: Fred dropped; Herrera to start

Manchester United face a must-win match this weekend against Chelsea.

After a woeful run of form, United still have a top-four place in sight.

But they need to win on Sunday to wrestle the advantage back from the Blues.

Victory for United will see them move level on points with their opponents.

But lose and they will fall six points behind with just three games remaining.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side put up some fight in the Manchester derby but fell away in the second half.

They need to come out fighting on Sunday and maintain that spirit for the full 90 minutes.

United could have Ander Herrera back for this match and the Spaniard may prove vital. Signed for £29million (BBC), the midfielder has been a big miss during his injury absence.

Fred is unlikely to start given his struggles, while it would be a surprise if Andreas Pereira featured from the start.

That could see Scott McTominay come back in alongside Herrera and Paul Pogba.

Solskjaer still has plenty to play for and it will be interesting to see how his stars perform this time around.

Another defeat is not an option if United want to keep fighting for Europe’s elite competition through to May.

Predicted United line-up:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Defence: Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw
Midfield: McTominay, Herrera, Pogba
Strikers: Rashford, Lukaku, Lingard
