Manchester United have flown out to Italy for tonight’s fixture with Real Sociedad.

The game kicks off at 5.55pm and United have taken a 22-man squad out for the fixture.

Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo are in, while Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani are out due to injury.

Who starts in goal and defence?

We are projecting three changes to the defence which started against West Brom on Sunday.

Cup goalkeeper Dean Henderson is almost certain to come in for David de Gea.

The second probable change is for Alex Telles to feature in place of Luke Shaw.

A third change will likely see Eric Bailly replace Victor Lindelof in central defence.

United could take this a step further by selecting Axel Tuanzebe in place of Harry Maguire, but this would probably be too radical a call for Solskjaer to make.

Midfield trio looks set

Selecting United’s three man midfield is a little easier than usual due to a reduction in the number of options available.

Neither Paul Pogba or Donny van de Beek travelled. Solskjaer also said Scott McTominay is ‘doubtful’.

This leaves Nemanja Matic and Fred as the pivot with Bruno Fernandes in an attacking role.

Who leads the line?

While Marcus Rashford probably needs a rest, he is unlikely to get one tonight.

Edinson Cavani did not travel while Anthony Martial is also ‘doubtful’ according to Solskjaer.

Mason Greenwood is very likely to start, and could lead the line, with Rashford on the left.

This leaves one extra spot, which Dan James, Juan Mata, and Amad Diallo will all be competing for.

Solskjaer spoke highly of Mata in his press conference and there is a good chance he gets the nod against a Spanish side featuring his former Valencia teammate David Silva.
