Manchester United welcome Derby County in the third round of the FA Cup tonight and Jose Mourinho will rotate his squad.
Mourinho, as usual, will field a strong eleven, as he knows that with the Premier League realistically tied up by Manchester City, he needs a trophy win to quieten doubts about his ability to succeed at Old Trafford. People have short memories and forget those two trophies which made Mourinho’s the most successful start in Manchester United history of any manager.
The manager has confirmed that Sergio Romero will be back and he also intends to play Romelu Lukaku, who came off injured against Southampton after suffering a head injury which was reported in the press as suspected concussion.
“Romelu is back, Romelu is back,” Jose told ManUtd.com. “As I said it was not a concussion, it was a precaution, a protection for him. He wanted to play against Everton, but this time he is back.”
Another returnee is Maruoane Fellaini. Chris Smalling will be brought back in to the fold and Luke Shaw is expected to keep his place in the side, despite featuring in most of United’s first team games over the Christmas period.
