Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Swansea’s Dan James, report Sky Sports.
It would be a positive first summer move, showing United would rather sign the next Gareth Bale than overspend on the Real Madrid ace.
James, 21, has impressed this season with his pace, and even his Swansea teammates are in awe.
After a stunning solo goal in the FA Cup this season, teammate Bersant Celina told just how impressive James is.
He was quoted by Talksport: “I’ve never played with anyone faster. He’s got so much pace and is great with the ball. He can go far and become a world-class player.
“He definitely has the right attitude. He works hard every day and is very down-to-earth. If he believes in himself, he can get to the top.
“Whenever I get the ball, I try to give it to him. I’ve never see anyone make runs like that. His timing is very smart.
“If he can get even better than that, nobody can stop him. It was like watching Gareth Bale running. I wish I could do that!”
James offers United an unpredictable element in attack and can create space for other players to flourish.
He is being tutored by Wales boss Ryan Giggs, and learning first hand from Bale at international level.
At a cost of just £15 million, it’s a refreshing change of tact for United in the transfer market if the club can get the deal over the line.
