Marcus Rashford is one goal away from hitting a milestone 50th goal under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer celebrated the second anniversary of his permanent appointment over the weekend, although these figures include his tenure as temporary manager.

Rashford leads all United players under Solskjaer’s management, with 49 goals.

Bruno Fernandes is fast catching him up with 35, having overtaken Anthony Martial already despite only joining at the end of January 2020.

Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba also make up the top five, particularly impressively for the Frenchman considering his injury problems.

Rashford has a total of 85 Manchester United career goals, and so more than half of them have come under Solskjaer.

He has 18 this season and also has 10 assists to his name too.

Battling to be fit again

Rashford is currently dealing with an ankle injury which forced him out of England’s recent matches.

It’s unclear whether he will be available to start against Brighton on Sunday. At this point, it looks like he may not be ready.

United have to manage Rashford carefully over the next few weeks, and not re-aggravate his ankle problem before it has fully healed.

He will hit his 50th goal under Solskjaer before long, it’s an inevitability. United just need to make sure he is healthy enough to continue to score number 51, 52, 53 and so on quickly after.
