Marcos Rojo made just his second Premier League start of the season in United’s win over West Ham.

The Argentine started at left-back in the 2-1 victory, lasting 74 minutes.

Rojo was replacing Luke Shaw who is suspended, and will also miss the midweek clash away to Barcelona.

His performance left us no closer to working out who should start at left-back in the Nou Camp.

Rojo obviously was not at the top of his game after so much time on the sidelines.

Solskjaer even admitted he was not at 100 per cent, telling BBC Sport: “He has had trouble with his calf but he had to step in because we had so many full-backs out.”

But there have always been questions over his ability to play at left-back. When he has played well for United it’s been as a centre-half.

He attempted three tackles, made three interceptions, and five clearances. He also had two shots at goal from distance.

It’s doubtful Rojo has a long term future in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans and this does expose the lack of depth at left-back behind Shaw. Ashley Young was also suspended for the game.

Paul Pogba scored two penalties to give United a 2-1 in.
