It has been a very tough 2020 for Dan James. Finally he has something to smile about.

James scored a belter of a long range strike into the top corner to put Wales 2-0 up against a Finland.

It was a surprise to see James finish with such perfection, and shows how he has a little more freedom when he plays for Wales.

James has started three Premier League games for United this season and he has not completed 90 minutes once.

In fact you have to go back to March to find the last game in which James completed the entire match for United.

It is no coincidence surely that James has no goals and no assists for United since March either.

Wales give him a little more run, and there is more freedom for him to perform. Mentally he does not feel under the same pressure.

James had played well before the goal, whipping in a cross to Gareth Bale in the first half which his teammate should have scored.

The goal was the icing on the cake for the 23-year-old. He will return to Carrington with a real spring in his step.

United have many options, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be getting more out of James. This was evidence he has the ability to influence games at a top level. Finland beat Paul Pogba’s France 2-0 just a week ago.

James still had time to add an assist and wrap up a 3-1 victory for Wales.

Here is a look at how fans reacted to James’ goal and performance…
