Manchester United’s unforgettable night in Paris will live long in the memory.
For Luke Shaw it was a momentous performance.
Shaw was magnificent in the Parc des Princes, looking assured down the left side.
United struggled early on the right, with Ashley Young and Eric Bailly getting in a mess.
Shaw had no such issues, and produced one of the games of his life.
It didn’t come as a surprise.
This season Shaw has been excellent and is United’s unquestioned number one left-back.
One year ago
In March 2018, Shaw was reportedly ready to quit United.
The Times reported how he saw no future at the club while Jose Mourinho was in charge, after being repeatedly picked out for criticism by the manager.
Shaw deserves credit for sticking at it, and eventually won over Mourinho.
Now under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he is blossoming further.
His performance in Paris up against world class attackers shows how far he has come.
Signed for £30 million five years ago, Shaw is finally fulfilling his potential.
