Juan Mata has struggled for consistency this season but feels he has improved in recent weeks.
Mata told the club’s official website that he is pleased with his recent performances and wants to keep it going until the end of the season.
He set up two goals in a 4-0 win over Norwich last month days before netting the winner against Wolves in the FA Cup.
What did he say?
He said: “I’m enjoying my level now, that’s what I like to do, to try to help the team with my football and if I’m enjoying it on the pitch it means my level is good.
“Hopefully I can keep doing it until the end of the season.
“Of course, we didn’t have every single result as we wished but I think the performances have been better and personally I’ve been very happy to contribute.”
Tricky for Mata
Mata has been on the bench as an unused sub for the past two Premier League matches but was one of United’s better players in the 1-1 draw with Brugge.
In the early part of the season, there was a need for a playmaker but Mata was unable to step up an make the spot his own.
But he is also taken in and out of the team and shunted between the right wing and a central position, which isn’t helpful in terms of allowing him to build up a run of form.
Bruno Fernandes’ arrival has made Mata’s task of nailing down a regular spot even harder.
But nobody can doubt Mata’s professionalism and technical ability and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope he can continue it when required.
