Manchester United are pushing to tie up new contracts for three players, report The Telegraph.
Ashley Young is set to earn a one year extension after impressing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his leadership skills.
Ander Herrera it is claimed ‘seems certain’ to extend his contract at Old Trafford.
Both players have been offered new contracts along with Juan Mata.

£37 million signing Mata has like Young only been offered a one-year extension.
The Spaniard is said to be ‘undecided’ whether to re-sign and has alternative offers from abroad.

Analysis

Herrera is the player United absolutely need to tie down. He is a key part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and performs like a captain.
It is good news that he is keen to re-sign and it should only be a matter of time.
Young signing a one-year deal may split opinion, but essentially, it’s fine and protects United.

Diogo Dalot still needs time to bed in, and having Young around gives United depth at both full-back positions.
You need only look at Liverpool’s current full-back dilemma to see how lack of depth can cost a team.
The report notes that Antonio Valencia is expected to leave this summer.
Mata’s situation is trickier. He is one of United’s highest earners and as we wrote last month, he needs to take a wage cut to be worth it, considering he is no longer a regular starter.
The terms of his new contract offer are unclear. The one year offer may be a compromise while keeping his wages the same.
If he is being offered a longer term deal amid a move back to Spain, it’s understandable if he chooses to take that instead.
