Ed Woodward is struggling to secure most of Manchester United’s transfer targets so far. He’s only managed one addition to date.
So it’s time United brought another negotiator to the table. Step forward young full-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Fosu-Mensah has been on holiday with a couple of famous Dutch pals, Wesley Sneijder and Donny van de Beek.
Sneijder is a legendary figure when it comes to United transfer rumours after the club’s pursuit of the midfielder back in 2010 and 2011.
Inter Milan refused to let him go and United missed out.
It’s Van de Beek, pictured left, who is currently being linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman is reportedly keen on a move, with journalist Marcel van de Kraan telling Talksport: “I think he’s got his eyes set on a club like Man United or Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’ve been talking to his agent, and he said if that would materialise it would be something right up his street.”
Van de Beek scored 16 goals for Ajax last season including goals in the Champions League quarter-final and semi-final.
The young midfielder is an exciting option, but it’s unclear if Ed Woodward is actually pushing Ajax to get a deal done. He is valued at a reported £45m
It’s currently up to Fosu-Mensah to continue to feed positive things about United to the Dutchman, and perhaps even relay further word of his interest to the bigwigs at Old Trafford.
Right now United’s negotiating team need all the help they can get.
